Well I had bought this GT 730 1gb DDR5 off of ebay to put in this cheap HP compaq 8300 sff in hopes of replacing a GT 710. Turns out I'm not exactly what someone would call "smart" and forgot that the case what a half height GPU case only. So I took a pair of snipping pliers to it and snipped the piece that held things down to have my crappy PC extra ghetto fabulous. When the GT 730 is in there, the computer makes a single short beep and the screen detects that there is a signal, but doesn't display anything. I know it is the GPU because when i put the 710 back into it. It began working again. And I put it in a different system and it still didn't show anything. Any ideas of what to do?

does the GT 730 have a power plug that needs to be inserted?

i'm assuming that there wasn't anything actually attached to the part of the backplate you cut off. (ps; next time, there's screws on the motherboard and/or standoffs next to the ports; after removing those you can remove the backplate intact.)

The HDMI I used works with the previous card.
I didn't cut any parts off of the GPU, rather the case. It is a HP Compaq 8300 SFF. So it has a I5-2400.
The GT 730 only draws power from the PCIE connection. And I know, the case only supports half-height cards. So I chopped a piece off that restricted mounting.

Earlier I had put it in a different desktop which I wasn't sure if that had worked. So my guess is just that it doesn't work, but I bought it for 25$ with free shipping so it isn't a big loss. Just strange that it was packaged correctly with padding and an anti-static bag for a scam.

Status of 25$ GT 730: Unworking (PC starts up with black screen and one short beep when installed) Attempts to get card working: 1.Reseating into PCI-E 2.Flash bios from v2.06 to v3.07 3. Attempt to use in other PC which am not sure is working either, but maybe(?)
Left to try (Has not tried yet.) 4. Flash system ROM (Not sure if safe, so won't do until I get another PC.) 5.Reflow card (Baking in oven, known not to be safe and only for temporary fix.)
Any other ideas?
