So i want to buy a laptop worth of 850$ (Vivobook S ) but is it worth it?

Vivobook S.      <   Asus n46z (old laptop )

Mx150 4gb.    <  650M 2 GB

SSD and HDD. <  No ssd

Is it worth it? And tell me if there's another laptop with same price but higher quality.

I think that's a great laptop for day-to-day tasks. As long as you're not planning on doing anything intensive like serious gaming or serious video editing, you should be good. I have a Dell XPS 13, and I use it for day-to-day tasks (Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, internet content, email) as a thin-and-light, and it works great. When I need to do some heavy editing though, the 8GB of RAM and the kinda-weak-sauce processor are what hold me back, so I fire up my desktop for that. Horses for courses, my friend.

Vivobooks are mediocre in general. If you want something cheap but good, Acer Swift 3 (I'll prefer 14 inch model with upgradable RAM - SF314-54)

QM CPU is still capable, however if you want better GPU performance, you might want a new laptop

For any rendering, you're going to need to get "thiccer." Get out of thin-and-light land, and move into kind-of-thin-but-not-really-light land. What exactly are you encoding, and what for? If possible, could you provide your list of preferred codecs or where you're uploading or streaming your media to (DNxHD, H.264, H.265, Cineform, YouTube, Twitch)?

Yeah, those laptops should do you just fine. Thin-and-lights unfortunately just aren't cut out for this kind of work, and while a desktop or thicker laptop won't sweat through a full night of rendering, the wimpy CPUs and undercooled GPUs of the tiny laptops will be begging for mercy five minutes in.

I'd actually suggest going down to your local big-box store (like Best Buy or Microcenter in the US or Memory Express in Canada) and looking at their midrange computers in your price range. If you have a Microcenter close by, I'd definitely recommend that over Best Buy, but try to go in to see some of the more popular options for your price range and what the average specs for those devices are. My guess is Nvidia MX150 or 1050 graphics with a lower end Core i5 processor or something to that tune. Find a few that match your requirements and aesthetic taste, and come back to the forum to ask us what we think is the better option. I'd hate for the forum to tell you to get something that you'd ultimately hate. xD

Don't choose brand, choose model

Then avoid gaming laptops. If you don't mind entry level IPS panel then Swift 3 is a good choice. Otherwise Yoga 730 13, Asus UX330UA, Lenovo Ideapad 720s 14/13 (Intel) and Acer Spin 5 13.

Noticeably different in build quality, battery life, display quality etc. Don't just look at specs when buying laptop
