Help on installing graphics card

HiimaPCNoob

Hey everyone, so I’m currently in the process of building my Pc, my graphics card is the last thing I need to hook up to the power supply. So I have a strix gtx 1080, and on the card itself it has a both a female six pin and female 8 pin. Do I hook up the graphics card to the psu on both sets? So a total of two cables from power supply to graphics card one 6 pin and another 8 pin?

Yes you need both 6 and 8 pin for the card to operate normally.

If you can, yes.

Both definitely need to be connected, but by using separate cables you keep the amount of power flowing over each individual cable lower, which can be useful if your PSU cables are of thin gauge. It means they'll heat up less.
