Which CPU is better?

I currently have an i5 4460 quad core CPU. I play ArmA 3 very frequently and I am looking for an upgrade of a CPU I was looking around and found an i7 6700k quad core clocked at 4GHz. I then later found an i5 8700k which has six cores and it clocked at 3.6GHz. I am here to ask, which would be more efficient for ArmA3? more cores? or a higher frequency?

I would also like to ask if there are any links to decent CPU, Mobo and Memory bundles.

I can't attest to ARMA 3 performance, but here is a decent bundle on newegg: https://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.3792698 They have a bunch on there

Plus you can overclock the 8600k into 4.5ghz+ territory with good cooling

You mean i5 8600k?  It and the 6700k are about the same performance.  Both will be an upgrade for you in ARMA, but you will need a new MOBO.  I'd go 8600K.

Yes I am planning to do a whole "essential" upgrade where everything that is again "essential" will be upgraded, I am just looking for the best price, for everything such as ram and mobo since the socket I have right now is a 1150 and I need a 1151 and with the new socket needs DDR4 ram which is very expensive at the moment.

Good.

Also be aware that not all 1151 are the same.

Z170/270 can use the same CPUs with BIOS updates

Z370/(390 not out yet) are rumored to use the same CPUs with updates.

All technically have the same 1151 socket.

thats better, make sure you get a good cooler

note: thats the same cpu and mobo as me xD

How well does it do? I want to get 16gb but... I want to keep it under £500 hopefully it won't make too much of a difference.

the mobo is fine, my limiting factor is temperature, i need to get a aio. you need 16gb ram, but get the cheapest cooler.
