So I use windows Movie Maker, then i moved to Davinci Resolve, now Resolve is proving to be such hardwork i uninstalled it. Complete waste of time. Three projects have been lost, and its all down to the software. I tell it where to save rendered videos and it dosnt do it!! Then it screw up my wudio for no reason. Not to mention timeline scrubbing is shit even at 1080p. Movie Maker dosnt eve lag out for Gods sake!

Are there any free, video editong programmes that are good, easy to use, profesional (ish) that actually work properly?

Which version of resolve were you using? Keep in mind that resolve 15 is in beta, so bugs are expected. Maybe try resolve 12.

Also i havent had any of these issues on even the resolve 15 beta, but i understand that resolve is for experts and for home users it is very difficult to learn.

Simply put, no.

If you want a good editor, there are few options on the PC. The major ones are Resolve and Premiere. There are a few others like Sony Vegas or Cyber Link Power Director, but both of those are not free.

Free software has little incentive to become better, so its more than likely that any free software that is out there is going to have similar issues to what you are experiencing now.

If you are desperate, there are ways to acquire paid software without paying, but the community guidelines prevent me from helping you directly.

I found Corel VideoStudio 8 online for free so Im going to give that a bash. I used one version of that before but it kept crashing because it was out of date, but when it worked it was very easy to use.

Did you bother to check the “free and open source alternatives to popular programs?”

If not, go there. I’ve used 2 of the choices and loved them.

I liked hitfilm and lightworks from the open source/ freeware thread in this section. Shotcut is another good one. Light works does some things annoyingly (like only supports certain versions of filetypes) but works.

I know that the corel video studio has a free version, but i dont know the limitations of that. But yes corel is much easier to use than resolve, but i find the features rather limiting.

The version i found was a trial......so I deleted that xD I have asked my mother if i can get the full paid version for my 21st birthday this year, but a few months early so...who knows. I will keep using Movie Maker untill she says yay or nay. I like Corel, I used to use it when i lived at my Girlfriends house and it was brilliant. Then it stiopped working after a windows update and it became out of date itself so that was a sad day

Yeah i also started with movie maker, then moved onto corel x8, then DaVunci Resolve.

Oh and  i meant that the corel x10 has a free trial, so you can try that how well it runs on your pc. With corel the first thing you do is go into preferences/settings and turn all the hardware acceleration options on. Then you have a much smoother experience.

I tried all that and its still laggy as balls. So its definatly being deleted and i shant be using it. video playback while editing is pixelated, it takes 5 seconds for it to pause and to play while editing and its just so slow.

Yeah corel being slow is one of the reasons i went with resolve, interestingly corel x8 seems faster than x10.
