Mixed Reality Headset Question

So I'm gonna keep this short, i wanna play vr but i dont have a bluetooth receiver yet and just wanna have my headset on and look at stuff. I want to know if the installation for the Mixed Reality headset, if I can go back and pair up the controllers later on when the receiver comes in but will I be able to connect them later on or would I be stuck with not being able to pair them?
