CPU still heating up!

hello, so my i7 8700 non k was a little hot at over 77c so i decided to change my thermal paste with a cooler master default one which came with the hyper tx3 evo. after the application i booted up the pc and just in the starting of rainbows six siege on the loading screen my temps went to 77c and then 86,90 and all the way upto 97c!!! i quickly turned off the computer reapplying the compound again and again but still no luck. i then ordered arctic silver 5 and waited for 3 days, after i got my order i did the same thing and again my temps were going to about 86 on siege and even my cpu fan stopped working now. no idea at all whats happening

please help

first we would need pictures of how much thermal paste you apply, it sounds like tis too little.

Regarding the Fan i have no idea, you could text it outside of the PC if you have a 12V powersupply and see if the fan is working or not.

You could have damaged the caple of the fan when removing it.

How much thermal paste do you apply? How do you apply it? Did you properly clean the old paste before applying new one?

Nope i didnt damage the cable i changed it with the stock cooler and the stock cooler is also not working. I did clean it with rubing alcohol. I applied a pea sized amount.

yeah this sounds like the CPU cooler not spinning properly...

1) either you plugged the CPU cooler fan into the wrong pin

2) CPU fan is blocked by other cables

3) CPU fan is dead

also look at that thermal paste, one side is completely squished down while the other side is crumbly thick, it looks like the cooler is not mounted correctly, one side is too tight and one way to loose.

you appear5 to have a similar if not same board as mine...i had this issue too. Behind the CPU, on the backside of the cpu, that plate that allows for mounts to your cooler, is their slop in it when the cooler is not mounted? I had alot of play in mine, once i tightened that up my temps dropped, its some issue with the cooler not sitting tight enough on the IHS. Its this board cause a few people had this issue with it.
