WiFi drops

My mom's desktop has to use wifi, it's in the kitchen on the main floor and the router is on the second floor.  There is an extender on the main floor.

 

For some reason the network drops after a while and doesn't work again.  When ever I tinker with it there is nothing wrong but when I leave it craps out.

 

I replaced the wifi adapter, does the same thing. It has been working in the same spot for a couple years.  Router was changed several months ago.

 

Any suggestions as to what I should look at?

Turns out it was the wifi router going kaput.  I got a Ubiquiti Amplifi HD mesh router to fix the networking issues once and for all.  I got one of them for my sister a month or two ago and she was blown away, she had crappy comcast wifi and has hated it for several years, the first time she loaded netflix she said "holy crap, it actually loaded".  My parent's wifi has been usable but now it's perfect.
