I pay for 500 Mbps wifi. If I transfer something from my NAS, will the transfer speed be limited to 500 Mbps or does it depend on the transmission speed of the router. I think I'm asking this question horribly, but...

500mbps  is usually the download. Upload speeds are much slower. Considering the speed, its prob 50mbps. Plus distance will also determine the speed.

Is 500mbps simply your wan speed?  Wireless performance depends on a lot of factors but primarily the standard used by the router and nics.

500 Mbps is hard to do on wifi unless you invested in some ac gear.  Also if you are doing wifi to wifi transfers the performance will tank quite a bit.

I can pull about 600 Mbps using a 2x2 ac nic but that leverages a comparatively expensive access point.
