Bottlenecking

So, I've been looking to build a laptop out of this thing: http://www.eluktronics.com/N950KP6-BYO#product-description
Which is basically a laptop shell with a graphics card, and rgb keyboard (gotta have it), two open DDR4 SODIMM slots, and an empty LGA1151 socket.
Now, what I'm worried about, is that if I pick up an i5-7400, it'll bottleneck the 1060 6gb. But honestly I'm here to get your opinion.

An i5-7400 and a 1060 are a good combo, in my admittedly limited knowledge. If you plan on recording or streaming you want more cores, but otherwise it should be great for 1080p and OK for 1440p. 

Everything I know I learned from the internet. Also school.

Storage: 120gb SK Hynix SSD, 240gb SanDisk SSD Plus, 1 TB 2015 WD Blue

Case: Corsair Carbide 100R

Peripherals: Logitech G Pro keyboard, Razer DeathAdder Elite, Logitech G305, Logitech G600, 24" AOC FreeSync 1080p monitor x2

Only in games like Assassins Creed Origins n Frostbite engine games (BF1/BFV) that will absolutely use up to 100% of 4 cores.
So bar a select few games (which you can tune to be a bit better),... not really an issue as the CPU can drive past 100fps in most titles,.. your going to be GPU limited for the most part.

 

iE Fortnite not a problem, Battlefield however, will use all 4 cores fully, but your not rocking a GTX1070-1080 for "excess" that the CPU can't drive when B'necked,..so the GTX1060 up to GTX1070 is likely the best match for you anyway., 8 Threads is needed going with a higher GPU to get the most out of it by not having a CPU/Game threading issue in place.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

See the thing is, I'm buying the laptop shell as I mentioned before, which comes with the GPU fit to the casing. I would need to pay more for a model with say a 1070. Unfortunately, that's a good $200 I do not have. I'm not expecting this thing to beat the best of the best and plow through frames like it's going out of style, I'm just expecting it to work like it should and be a very personal computer considering I made the dang thing run. But if it'll run GTA V, it'll run all of my steam games, considering it's the most demanding game I have, next to maybe Watch Dogs 2.

Should be OK for low settings 60fps, according to benchmarks I've seen.
