Hallo, I want to upgrade my computer I'm thinking about a CPU & motherboard bundle I don't know much about this stuff so I would like to get some help & recommendations 
I have a 6 year old PC with i5 2400 
256 ssd
8gb ram
I will use it mainly for audio editing with audio interface that requires thunderbolt connection

No point, that 2nd gen i5 runs on a completely different socket to anything 4th gen and above (4th gen up to pre skylake  use socket 1150, anything that's skylake and after uses socket 1151, though in coffee lake we saw a second revision of socket 1151 featuring a slightly different pinout) and DDR3 RAM wouldn't work in a modern system. But you're welcome :)
