Hey guys!

For a while I had my 6600k OC'd to 4.6ghz and I had an XMP profile on my memory to bring it from 2133 to 2667. Its usually stable, I've had some crashes in the past but for the most part its stable but today I booted up my PC and it would not post. The error code LED read 99 and it wouldnt post until I reset the CMOS. I tried to get my CPU back up to 4.6 but I had to dial it back to 4.4 to get it to boot into windows without freezing. Even still when I tried to play games, they would crash. If anyone has any idea what's going on I'd love some insight.

Thanks!

Assuming you live in the northern hemisphere then it's summer and that usually means higher ambient temperatures, it's not unusual for OCs that have worked for months to suddenly become unstable in the summer.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

That could be true, however, I've had this config for a number of years and never at any specific time seen this issue before. My h100i keeps it icy cold according to nzxt cam

What voltage(s) are you using?

Have you updates your BIOS recently?

Did you re-seat the CPU block, or re-apply thermal paste lately?

It could be that the CPU had degraded a tiny bit, and will require more voltage to keep your 4.6 GHz overclock stable -- this would be the worst case...more or less.
