gpu problem after nvidia update?

i updated my drivers and my gpu usage went from 100 in games to 65, and im lagging. how can i turn it back up

its a laptop. GTX 1060. i7 6700hq. I just got it back from an rma.

what games where you playing // are you at are more intense segment of the game and the drivers could have just happend at the same time or check you have nothing running in the background slowing the system

its happening right after i clean wiped the system. I think its some nvidia / windows setting.

really wish there is a way i can just make it use 100 on games

What's your CPU usage and temps for both CPU and GPU? VSync?

cpu max is like 85. gpu max is 81. Average is 73. No vsync

High gpu usage doesnt mean that higher performance(fps in games) you will get, but high gpu usage will come with more power drain and more heat for sure. In any case, if you want higher gpu usage u can increase resolution and graphics quality settings in games.

 

If gpu usage droped after the driver update, it should be wellcomed because nvdia engineers have done their job pretty good in aspect of optimization
