I want an ssd. I do not need storage because I still have 670 gb on my WD 7200rpm 1tb hdd. I want the speed of an ssd. So I have been seeing some good deals on an HP S700 2.5 inch 120gb SATA 3 for $35 on Newegg. But then I remembered that M.2 is faster and smaller. So I found a Corsair MP300 M.2 128gb for $50. Which SSD is more viable for me to buy?

They both have SATA interfaces, just different connections, so they have the same theoretical speeds. Get whichever one is cheaper.

More Details Below :)

While the OP won't notice a difference in boot speeds, the m.2 is PCI not SATA.  It is faster than the SATA drive.

I'm pretty sure that NVMe Drives only have one notch on the connector, while this SSD has two:

Here's an example of a true NVMe SSD by Samsung, which has one notch.

It would be interesting to see if the first SSD is seen as an NVMe Drive because it is advertised as one. @Stimpy127 If you do get the "NVMe" one please update me on if it's truly an NVMe drive or SATA because the connector looks like a SATA one.

Maybe they just have the wrong picture? Everything on the page says it's NVMe but I just went with the picture. Perhaps the Corsair one would be faster, but the advertised write speeds are slower than the HP one.

Yeah it's a good possibility there is something not right.  Either in the description or the picture... or both I guess.
