Strange Boot Issue

I have this issue with a PC I recently built where when you press the power button, it'll turn on for a couple of seconds, then power off, but about five seconds after that, it'll boot fine and you can use the computer no problem. Any ideas what could be the issue? The PSU is brand new so I'm at a loss. Unfortunately, the motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics support (P67) so I can't just breadbox it to try and figure out what's going on.

seems to me like an empty CMOS battery? not sure
basically it powers on to setup BIOS by itself, then it will reboot and boot normally, but since the CMOS battery is empty, it has to do that everytime you power it on, because the BIOS settings get reset everytime.

it reboots by itself right?
(i could be very wrong)

Yes it does! I didn't even really think about that. It's quite possible the motherboard wasn't used for a long time before I got it, so I will definitely try that. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: Bought new batteries and it works like a charm.
