Ever since about a month ago, I have been having issues with Windows 10 randomly freezing. The specific times I've noticed this is while playing Minecraft, logging into Windows, and especially playing GTA V. The only fix that I have found so far is rebooting, but the computer just freezes at some point again. I can verify this isn't a temperature issue, because I ran an Aida64 stress test on the CPU, GPU, memory, and storage for over 9 hours last night without any freezes. I've tried Googling this issue with no results that have fixed the issue. I am also fairly certain this has nothing to do with software, because I tried this with a fresh SSD and a fresh Windows install, which froze the moment it reached the desktop. I have also tried reseating the CPU and GPU to no avail. There was also some brief mention of Broadcom wireless cards causing issues with the latest Windows 10 update, but my system still froze even with my wireless card completely removed. I feel like I have tried everything yet the system still freezes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

I built it, and it's gone through a fair amount of revisions. The most recent is from an i5-6500 and ASUS Z170-A to the current board and CPU. The issue still didn't occur until about 3 or 4 weeks after that upgrade.

i will have to restart my PC and go into the BIOS to remember the steps. give me a mo. You may have not got a stable setting saved and as you have upgraded any saved may not apply but all the same you can have a wee look.

ok, so go into BIOS, select the TOOL tab and then select "Asus Overclocking Profile". See what you have. Selecting any of them, if you have any its going to revert any tweaking you have made but it can change things for the better on things you didn't know had been changed or forgot you did. This normally helps when you a have been messing about with settings and lost your way. BUT you may have nothing. Also take in mind it could make things worse i suppose but im just covering my ass. Use at you're own risk but I've found it helpful a few times and at the very least you know this function exists and can use it in future if you save a few profiles before delving into some mad tweaking session.

I couldn't find Asus Overclocking Profile, but I did notice while I was in the BIOS that for some reason my CPU is set at 1.378V. Very strange considering I've never tinkered with overclocks or overvolts on this board. Rebooting now to see if that fixes the issue, but it should take about an hour of playing GTA for a solid answer.
