Microphone not detected

I never had this problem until recently. Whenever I plug my headset into my laptop when I am out and about, the built in microphone is the only one detected. It is a single port for headphones and a microphone. In the recording devices window it shows Realtek HD Audio, but it is the built in mic. There is no other microphone detected. I have reinstalled the drivers and tried a full reset of windows. I do not believe it is the port, because the headphone still work, and my adapter is not the problem, because it works just fine with my Xbox One. Also, I cannot open the Realtek Audio Manager, there is no error, it just doesnt open
