Overclocking

Im new to the pc world and want to overclock my computer i noticed that gigabyte has a "cpu upgrade" function in the bios that seems like its an easy instant overclock and i was wondering if its worth it and is there any stability issues that come with it

Well auto overclockers are not always recommended, but you are better off doing it manually. Since you have more control of voltages.

Thank you i actually looked up a guide on how to manually do it and so far ive overclocked my 8600k to 4.7ghz at 1.3v and ive been stress testing it for the last 15 minutes or so and it hasnt crashed yet do you by chance know how long i should have prime 95 running to make sure its stable

Try using Intel Burn Test, it's a little faster for stress testing. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/intelburntest.html

Don't stop there. 8600k has more juice to squeeze than that.

 

Imo, anything below 4.8 GHz does not need long testing. For me,  I run 5Ghz @ 1.3v for many months now without issues.
