I just bought a new budget laptop.

So I just bought a HP Pavilion Laptop 15-cc1xx, as I was running on a budget of 60,000-65,000 INR or 885-960 USD. It has an 1.6 GHz Intel core i5 8th Gen, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 940MX 2GB Graphics and 2GB integrated graphics as well. My question is that can it run basic games like PUBG and some free steam games, and will it run long term, how much time can I expect this laptop to run. And as I've noticed it gets heated very fast because it has the most basic cooling because it doesn't even count in gaming laptop, so how will cooling affect the lifetime of the laptop?

p.s. can you also explain 1.6GHz I don't understand what it is.

thanks

You are asking if it can run games?
..
Do you not have it yet?

PubG I doubt, horribly optimized, Plus its pretty hard to run.

"Free Steam games"
That depends 100% on what the game is.

I am also looking for a Budget laptop, But If you wanted to play games, you should have picked a laptop with better Card in it, 1050 / 1050ti.

Basically Ghz is 1 billion cycles per second. The speed of the microprocessor which is known as the clock frequency is measured in Giga Heartz. So basically if your computer is 1.6 ghz then it executes 1.6 billion cycles per second. Generally each instruction is associated with certain number of instruction cycles and the clock speed determines the number of instructions that can be executed by the microprocessor in a second. Higher the frequency more powerful is the microprocessor.

900 series is not good.. Compared to the 1000 series.

8th generation processors are new, with the old card, Its kind of a weird combo, with old and new.

How long have you had the laptop for?

Or do you have it yet?

If you plan on gaming, I suggest you return it and get a better laptop, with better specs :^)

I've had it for more than a month now and to be honest I think it was the best laptop I could have bought for my budget, it looks great and has been working fine for me because of turbo boost feature by intel,
