Hello once again!

Since my current CPU (AMD FX-4100) is too weak for my liking (especially when i recently have bought a new GPU) im thinking of buying a new CPU. I was thinking of buying a AMD FX-8350 since it seems epic and is pretty cheap, but im wondering what you guys think. Should i buy it? Is it good? Is there better ones in that pricerange? My budet is around 1500 SEK (215$) (lower would be better)

PEACE! :)

AM3+ socket btw.

Well, pretty much 8xxx and 6xxx are your only choices if you can't get a new motherboard.

I wouldn't get the 8350 though because you can usually finds a 8320/81xx for less money and that way you can spend the leftover money on something else.

If you have an FX-4100 now, I bet you have a pretty low end motherboard too, so an 8350 is not the best idea. If you spent less than 1000 SEK on your motherboard, stay with the 4100. Don't overclock an FX-8XXX chip on anything less than a Sabertooth (or a Gigabyte UD if you like to play with fire, but that is BARE minimum)

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

What does everyone have against the FX 8350? It's a great chip just ordered mine. Why not overclock on anything but a Sabertooth, Do you have evidence that it will cause damage? I have an Asus m5A99X are you saying that wont work? its a $120 board...

I understand the itch. What you could do is get the 8320 and just leave it at stock (which is great too) until you can move up in the mobo tier :)

I didn't say it won't work, I'm saying lower end motherboards have thin PCBs and wimpy VRMs that will eventually wear out or take actual heat damage from running more voltage to the CPU. It's a very common problem on the AM3+ boards.

How big difference is it between the 8320 and the 8350? Since the 8350 is only like 35$ more

what motherboard do you have? the 8320 is the same as the 8350. the 8350 is just clocked higher from the factory, so you might as well just save you self some money and get the 8320 and just oc to the same speed as the 8350.

the 8350 isn't a bad chip. its just pointless. an asus m5a99x or ud3 is the lowest board that you can overclock 8 cores on but its best to get a sabertooth or ud5 if you want to do higher overclocks 4.6ghz+

Yea i guess :( But as FileCorrupted said, is it really that dangerous? I do have watercooling on the CPU btw. (dont ask me why)

It depends on your luck really. And how much you push the CPU. A moderate overclock can be completely harmless, but the difference between 'devastating' and 'running fine forever' can be pretty drastically small. Could be a matter of millivolts. When you get down to too low quality VRMs and thin PCBs, little tiny things like how well the components are soldered start to matter.

what motherboard do you have? the 8320 is the same as the 8350. the 8350 is just clocked higher from the factory, so you might as well just save you self some money and get the 8320 and just oc to the same speed as the 8350.

Not the same, they are from different grade bins. The 8350 can theoretically reach higher clocks, but for most people that won't matter, which is why the 8320 is usually the best choice for 95% of people.

Because 3570k is the same price. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80637i53570k

Guys, i think intel won the battle here. 8350 is after all pointless, as Jumper118 stated.

IMO, just stick with the board you already have and target an overclock to about 4.2 - 4.4 Ghz with it :) If you want more than that, I don't think the Fatal1ty will be the best choice, though it is a decent enough board if you already want more PCIe slots.
