So did some testing with Superpostion at 4K. Highest FPS was around 77.

Tried 1080P extreme and it was around 48 FPS???

Both were at 3840x2160 res @ 60 Hz

Tried to lower my resolution to 1920x1080, and still the same frames for 1080P Extreme.

Then I changed back my res to 4K and played Rise of the Tomb Raider. Checked my FPS with Geforce Experience and FPSMonitor, and it never went above 60 FPS at either 4K or 1080P.

I'm super confused. For some reason my FPS is capped... and I don't know why...

But what's weird is that 4K Optimized on Superpostion still says high 70's for FPS.

But it's still capped with other options? Other games? WHUT.

How does it makes sense that I get high 70's FPS for the benchmark in 4K, but 45 FPS for 1080P Extreme, and Rise of Tomb Raider is capped at 60?

There's something wrong and I don't know what it is....

I don't have Rise of the Tomb Raider optimized through Geforce Experience.

Excuse the physical laggy frames with TR in the video below. It's the recording software being stupid.

If the Hz equates to max FPS, then okay, 60 Hz = 60 FPS.

a) if I change my resolution to 30 Hz, why does the cap stay at 60 FPS, shouldn't it go down to 30FPS?

b) the same with a game, if I change my res to 30 Hz, and game Hz to 30, why is it displaying 60?

c) if the benchmark shows 4K optimized FPS at around 75 FPS, how could that be if at 60Hz?

d) if the 1080P extreme bench as 60Hz only shows around 45 FPS, why, as it should be more?

e) at 60Hz the benchmark is around max 207 FPS for 1080P medium, why doesn't it display a max of 60 FPS?

Resolution is not measured in Hz. Please try to make more sense when posting multiple times for the same pointless topic.

believe it or not 1080p extreme is a lot heavier than 4K optimized.

Also, you didn't show tomb raider settings in the video are you sure it's not VSYNC on.

Also do you have RivaTuner installed cause i know you can put a framerate cap in there as well...

He knows that now but his problem is that 4k looks better in his eyes than 1080p extreme. Which, like I said in his other topic, is not the point of this benchmark. There is a ton of computing power processes that can be hung on GPU without much visual difference. The textures are one thing but not the only one that takes a toll on a GPU.

actually...textures does not impact the GPU...only VRAM..

Here's a good read about textures in video games...i would recommend to read the whole arcticle though it's very very nice and every PC gamer

should know all that is in this...so i put the link bellow the picture as well :)

When I said "textures" I meant resolution of those textures. I mean, if texture quality doesn't affect FPS then how come that going from 1080p to 4k decreases FPS in general? Sure, VRAM is one thing but trying to render higher resolution textures will take a toll on the GPU.

Texture quality and rendering resolution are not the same thing...when you increase your screen resolution (rendering resolution) you greatly increase the amount of GPU calculations because all the models, lighting and effects are rendered much more precisely therefore requiering a lot more GPU ressources.

Not if your rendering resolution remain the same...rendering a game say at high detail settings with low texture quality at 4K versus the same game still at high details but ultra texture quality with 4K screen resolution you will get the very same framerates but you'll use more VRAM.
