Howdy Chaps,

I'm about to start  my next modding project. In the past it's always been a simple square side panel nothing special. This time i'm pushing the boat out really, I don't have a huge budget ( i have everything  I hopefully need to buy already purchased too).

I'm about to start the chassis mods,  and I have two ways to go. The design itself is complex in the grande scheme of things:

Would you recommend getting the panel cut with a CNC machine or laser cutter , if so where in the uk would do it for the best price, i'm only a student so money is a wee bit tight! Or would you recommend doing it by hand using a jigsaw and a lot of filing!

Kind Regards,

Use masking tape and put your design onto it and Use a drill to get a hole started and then use a jigsaw, but it you don't want to do that chilled pc have a fabrication service, send them an email.

So chilled, much holes, wow.

I could not resist. Hehe.

in my opinion you need to: [i recomend these steps so you dont have to do it all in one go].

1. use a drill with a the right sized bit for the tiny curvered corners.

2. use dremel (with metal cutting disk), or jigsaw if you can fit it in the holes, to cut lines between drilled hole points

3. use a jigsaw to go round the and the deeper the curve the slower you should need to go as u need to turn more and control the blade (sorta like a car).

4. then use a file and dremel to smooth out the cuts, and get some jewellers files to small filing in the corners

the red dots are where i suggest drill points, and orange lines are cut lines for step 2 (some arent too useful but the gist is to break down the shape into smaller shapes, eg triangles, the you can cut out the whole shape in chuncks)

this is all ok if you dont want the shape but the shaped hole. if you want the shape the just apply what i did to the outside. if you want both well i recomend not follwing this hahha
