My First upgrade

Hello everyone,

When I first built my pc. It was during the crypto mining boom of 2017. So I waited for Black Friday to buy the parts for my system, but the one thing I was without was a decent graphics card. So I settled for a GT1030 until I could afford a better card. I'm looking at prices now that I have some money but I don't really know what would be better performance for my r5 1600 system.

So right now I've got about $360 towards this but I could wait for a little bit and have $400.

I have thought of going for a GTX 1060 6gb card but I don't know if that is really a big enough performance increase.

Yes, that is a massive performance increase from a 1030. Just make sure your PSU has enough power for the 1060. If you can afford it, go for the 1060, you will love it. You can max most games at 1080p with that card. Personally I prefer MSI cards, like their Gaming X models, very good for cooling and overclocking.

from a 1030? a 1030 is not a card , its a telesketch compared with a 1060. I put on my work 1050ti - 1050 and 1030 and my gf has a 1060 6gb , and dude there is a huge step up when you jump from 1050ti to a 1060 , not in raw power but in performance waaaay up, I feel like a 1050ti for new games is like forcing too much (like pubg or any new game on high settings) , a 1030 is for office or for people who hasnt igpu, some of them are ddr4 XDD with/without fans , doesnt matter because a telesketch doesnt get hot :( .

Pick a 1060 6gb.

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

ok, Thank you for the help. As for the PSU, I have a SeaSonic 650 watt so I believe that should be good enough.

I was stuck with the GT1030 because of me not wanting to waste my money on an overpriced card at the time. anyway thank you for your input.

Check that 1030 to see if its ddr4 or ddr5 , im not judging for buying a 1030 , its not only about the best card , its about your budget and the time you buy it , so its normal doing that . just check for reselling has more value the ddr5
