Hi everyone, I am planning to purchase the Ryzen 5 2600, but the product page says its maximum supported ram speed is 2933Mhz. If I purchase a Corsair 8GB 3000Mhz ram stick, will it still be fine? Any sort of underclock for the ram?

Thanks as always, Im very new to computers :)

It should be fine so long as your motherboard handles OCed RAM well. But honestly, anything faster than 2933MHz is basically overkill for Ryzen.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

2933-3000MHz is basically the sweet spot for Ryzen. More than that is poor value as you're not gaining much in regard to the extra cost.

Ram speed is based on the chipset you buy and motherboard. The speed you see is what is "officially" supported from AMD. Everything else is considered an overclock. Best way to know is to look up your motherboard QVL list and verified that the kit you are looking to get will work with that motherboard at the rated speeds.
