alright thanks for the info :) do you think an 8700k is worth the 100€ extra over the 8600k?(maybe for future-proofing)?

Persoonlijk vind ik van niet, maar ik ben dan ook een cheapskate hehe

Maar al je echt die 144hz wilt halen is het die 100euro waard

i currently have a system with an asrock b250 chipset, an i5 7600, 16gig 2400mhz ddr4 and a gtx 1060.

i plan on upgrading this summer and i wonder if it is worth to get a next gen 8600k and new mobo, or just upgrade to a i7 7700?

i also plan on gettin a gtx 1080.

can i get some opinions on this?

thanks in advance.

The B250 chipset doesn't support overclocking so Z170 / Z270 board would be required for the 7700k anyway. Personally if you find your CPU needs an upgrade I'd go with the 8600k.

yes, i'm aware of that, but i think its kind of a waste of money to buy a z170/270 and a k cpu, because the cost is almost the same if i would get a z370/7800k

why ask here and not on tweakers ?

hahah, because this is a more internation forum :P

because i have an 3440*1440p ultrawide and the 1060 just doesnt cut it.. and when i play ac origins i cant get over 90fps..(i have a 144hz screen)

and i plan on playing forza horizon 4 so it probably wont cut is for that game as well..

and a friend of mine has a 1080ti and i put it in my system and my cpu was a massive bottleneck when playing ac origins, but that could also be ac's bad optimisation..

also, if you guys would advise me to go 2nd gen ryzen, i would like to hear it

IF you do streaming/ rendering or some other kind of work with the cpu then ryzen is for you, if you are just gaming get the intel, you will get 5-10fps more.

i only play games, i stream from time to time but like once in a month for an hour or two so that doesnt really matter..

would you then suggest for me to get a new mobo with an 8600k or just get an 7700?

*Let me actually read your Post*

If you find your CPU struggling I'd personally go with the 8600k. Going from an i5 4690k to an i7 8700k has been a blessing for multitasking.

i find when i play rainbow 6 or guild wars or ac origins, that when i alt tab, my pc is very, very laggy.. and my cpu usage is constantly at 100%

Get the 8700k then. The 4 cores of 7700 is too little for streaming and for multitasking too.

Yeah for an ultrawide 1440p the 1060 is a potato, 1070ti/1080 is worth it

Cpu wise I would go with the 8600k so you can hit that 144hz more frequently

Let's agree to disagree

alright thanks for the info :) do you think an 8700k is worth the 100€ extra over the 8600k?(maybe for future-proofing)?
