Hey guys,

i've build a PC at the weekend and I'm overclocking it at the moment.

It has a Intel 8600K, an ROG Strix Z-370F, a Noctua NH-D14 and 16GB 3200 Corsair Ram.

It's running 4,6Ghz at 1,33 Volts and stable until now, but the thermals are doing some crazy stuff.

When the stresstest runs it's running at about 70 degrees for an half hour but then it is jumping up to between 90 and 100 degrees and after some time its going back down to about 70 degrees.

The processor isn't throtteling and the temperature isn't going up consistent to 100 degrees, instead it rises until it hits about 70, then it stays there and then it jumping in a minute up to 90 to 100 degrees.

If the temperature would rise constantly it would be clear, but now I'm not shure why the temperature is that high.

I hope somebody has an idea what may could cause this.

I'm thinking faulty sensor. I have this problem with one of my Xeon 2670's. IPMI keeps reporting temps well over 100C but touching the cooler just above the CPU it's nowhere close to that. Software bug or sensor failure basically.
