Check to see if you're running the latest BIOS available. If so, there's little you can do outside of a custom BIOS.

my computer manual says 800mhz is accepted...the new ram is 800 the current ram is 677mhz......its strange because this computer came with originally 1 module that was 2gb and yet when i left in 2 modules of the new-2gb each, for 4gb in total...it crash's after a short while...a strange noise does come from the computer, i dunno if its a voltage thing or not but there is some type of non-fan noise that comes from the computer while it works with the 2 modules.....when i put in all 4 modules it wouldnt even boot up.

i never overclocked anything

Step 1. Update bios

Step 2. Test every single stick individually with memtest86 for at least 3 passes.

report back

other people have successfully installed 8gb. So it’s either a density issue, bios issue, bad stick, or bad memory socket.

Which is why we first need to confirm it’s not the bios then the memory.
