So I recently bought a Steam link and the audio quality isn't very good. It completely cuts out the bass. I think I've found the problem. It always changes the sample rate or audio format to 16bit 48000hz. If I change it before connecting it always reverts back to it. Changing my default playback devices sample rate doesn't seem to affect it.

Is there a way to lock the sample rate on a playback device in windows 10.

I dont have a steam link, but under the advanced settings for audi playback devices; you can un-check "allow applications to take control of this device..". That sounds like a thing.

16bit 48khz is usually fine since it can reproduce all frequencies from 0-24,000 hz (human hearing) which should include bass notes.

I prefer 24bit @ 48khz since it offers 144db of range over 16bits 96db, but really could never tell the difference.
