Hi everyone. I got destiny in the monthly bundle on humble bundle, played it for a bit and i really like it. Only problem is that it keeps "crashing" but not like a proper crash where you have to restart it, just returning to my desktop. Does anyone have an idea of what this is? It mostly happens in fights.

Specs:

I5-7400

GTX 1060

8 Gb RAM

Thanks!

Have you overclocked anything? Remove any overclocks if you have. Try update GPU drivers.

PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE | 32 GB RAM | Arch Linux

Laptop:

MacBook Pro 13" (2019) | Intel Core i5 8279U | 8 GB RAM | macOS

Server:

Intel Core i7 6700K | 16 GB RAM | 2 TB HDD | Debian Linux

With that setup you should normally be fine playing that game without any issues at all.

Does it only happen with this game? Or do you also experience other problems when the system is stressed?

Have you OC your CPU or GPU? If so, try to roll back the OC to factory settings and try again.

If that doesn’t do the trick, reinstall/update your drivers.

I haven't done any overclocking. The GPU is running at a 76C is that too High?

76 °C under full load? No, that's perfectly fine.

Do you only experience it with the game Destiny? Or also when playing other (demanding) games?

Well, it only happens with Destiny. The program i use to watch my temps usually makes a popup warning when the card gets to 76C, although the popup doesn't show up in Destiny only the sound. Could that be forcing me back to the desktop? And if so is it safe to change when it gives the warning?

Have you stress tested your GPU already since you've noticed these issues?

I'll try it out

You should definitely run some GPU stress test to see if the card also behaves like that under a “controlled” load.

If the GPU passes the tests without any problem, you should uninstall Destiny completely and reinstall it.
