I am looking to put together a small server for my family to store our movies on and access. I am wanting to put it under my TV or have it be small enough to sit next to it. I am needing space for about 10 drives and will be using Linux to set it up. I am having some issues figuring out what sort of hardware I need to have. Any suggestions?

I am wanting to keep it at $800 or less. i was considering using the following parts based on a few Linus videos.

well heres a case thats small and has 10 3.5" drive bays:

Your motherboard selected has 8 SATA 3 ports, not 10 like you said you want. And it is a bit overpriced.

Yea, unfortunately, I couldn't find a motherboard that fits what I was looking for. Any suggestions? And I would be buying that part via eBay to hopefully save a bit of money.

It should fit fine but do you already have the hard drives?

You could try a raid card for that though, it will allow you to use more hdd's

I have 6 of them right now. They are not the exact same but eventually as storage is needed I will expand and get the same type of drives.

With that controller could i use any motherboard regardless of the number of SATA ports it already has?

i'd say so but if possible, ask another person just for another opinion before you buy it.
