I have spent about 3 weeks putting this build together and if it's all good ill probably buy it in the next 2-3 weeks from now.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rtJdHh

The purpose for this PC will be for programming and video editing/photoshop, with super light gaming(e.g world of tanks, terraria). My budget is $1600 but I have to a count for tax, about $1500

I never built a PC before and never chose parts either, so I need advice on what could be improved on.

Thanks.

Ripjaws V memory is not the best pairing with an NH-D15. Low profile memory, like Corsair LPX is a much better choice.

The EVGA G3 psu is much better than the NEX, currently at the same price. But I'd suggest a 550W Seasonic Focus Plus Gold psu.

For a few $ more, one can get an Asus motherboard with onboard WiFi.

What about the dark rock pro 4? the performance is about the same but it should support the Ripjaws V. The 550W power supply is the same price as the 650w from EVGA. Should I just go with the evga and give up a little psu performance?

Yes, Dark Rock Pro 4 has better memory clearances. The outer fan may have to be raised a bit, but all four memory slots should have no problem with Ripjaws V installed. In fact be quiet has a picture showing TridentZ modules, they are 2mm taller than Ripjaws Z.

An interesting choice with respect to the psu. The two models have similar electrical performance with perhaps a small edge to the Seasonic. The Focus Plus seems to be significantly quieter, especially at higher loads. Hardware.info reports 31 dB(A) for the 650W G3 and 20 dB(A) for the 550W Focus Plus Gold with 300W load from 10cm. The Seasonic has a longer warranty. Either psu would be a reasonable choice.

I decided to go with the Dark Rock Pro 4 instead of the Noctua. The Corsair Vengeance LPX Ram is too expensive for me. Now I really don't know what mobo to go with anymore. At Microcenter I can get $30 off with a bundle deal. The i7-8700K + the Strix z370-E is $470 total without tax. I was looking into the Gigabyte Aorus gaming 5. Herman Mcpootis recommended the MSI - Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON. I cant decide which one is better. For video editing get at least 32 GB ram or if possible 64 GB it will fit in the budget 64 GB ram costs around 700 dollars so if you don't need a ssd as you r not really into gaming that much a 1050 or 1050 to is best it comes around 200 bucks. Get any PSU with 430w or more with 80+ efficiency a good case processor i7 7700k is good and any motherboard you like which is compatible with 7yh gen processors of Intel. That overall would cost you around 1550 dollars of you get 64 GB ram is you get 32 GB you can get a 1060 6 GB GPU and a 240 gb SSD.

AMD Ryzen 3 1300x @3.9 ghz

Asus prime b-350 motherboard

16 GB Corsair vengeance ddr4 ram @2400 MHz

4 tb hhd

Samsung 240 GB SSD

MSI gtx 1060 6 GB OC @2.0 ghz

Corsair Vs 550 PSU

Chiptonex gx1000 V2 witch addition 3 front RGB Corsair fans 2 Corsair RGB fans at top and the inbuilt one at the back

Logitech g502 spectrum RGB mouse

Razer cynosa chroma RGB keyboard

Prism 63391 RGB mouse pad

Readgear gmaing headset

Samsung 75hz 1440p curved monitor

I'm a fan of Asus motherboards, but at this level any of the choices would be good. I like Asus for its features, BIOS, and utilities, The Strix Z370-E has the USB BIOS Flashback feature which can flash a BIOS without a cpu or memory installed. I also like the fact that it can handle 4-pin and 3-pin fans on the same header.
