Hey all, im working on a pc build (I dont have any of the parts yet im waiting till I KNOW what is a good buy) I have never built a PC as of yet so I am kinda flying by the seat of my pants here. Constructive criticism is welcome and advice is needed. So without further adieu here is the list of things I am trying to make into a pc :P

1. Location and budget

Well, Im in Central USA, Minnesota to be exact. And im trying to build this as cheap as possible while still having plenty of performance (lets be honest, that what everyone does right?). My budget is somewhere around $600 USD preferably but the current list is somewhere around 1k.

2.Aim

This is going to be a multipurpose pc, I will be doing some video editing and some recording along with gaming, things like ARK survival evolved, csgo etc. It needs to be able to also do some 3D rendering for Adobe and blender.

3.Monitors

Well Im going to start out with a single monitor, 24 inch 1920x1080 144hz but eventually I will expand to three.

4.Peripherals

I dont have any peripherals currently as I am moving up from a laptop so I will need everything from a keyboard to mouse to monitor.

4.Why im upgrading

Im upgrading for a few reasons. Number one is I just want to build a pc, number two is I need more power to do things like rendering animations. And number four is I currently only have a Laptop, a Dell Latitude e6430 to be exact. Benchmarks and sys info can be found HERE . Once you have a read you will see why I need an upgrade, I am trying to game/record/edit/render on an old laptop with a 14" 1600x900 mat screen.

5.Conclusion & Spec list

Im new to all this as I have already said and im on a budget, used pieces are welcome and if anyone has extra pieces they are willing to sell hit me up as I need to keep the price down (student loans and all).

Thanks in advance to all that reply with help and tips!

Specs:

Im trying to get an old Titan Black on eBay....

Here is my amazon list for the current list as I am working on it (note that this list has more pieces then I will buy, its just some possibilities compiled)

Although this isn't the optimal setup for the money you can read about what I did with my computer:

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/XwkdnQ

I haven't updated it in a while:

(Now I have the Phanteks P400 Tempered Glass, 24" Dell 1080p and a 3TB hard drive)

It's kinda helpful 9_9

Remember, used parts.

I like the industrial look of that PC case that you used in the build before you upgraded to the P400. I'm a weird one, that doesn't like the common non-unique cases. I always go overboard lol.

Ok. Do you want Intel or AMD?
Also ARK on a i7-7700k and 1060 6GB (in my signature) aren't going to cut it in ARK on Ultra. I need a 1070 overclocked. So keep that in mind, if you want to play Ultra. This was on 2560x1080

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($94.59 @ SuperBiiz)  - Replaces the R3 1200 as AMD's budget offering. The iGPU isn't terribly useful in this situation but might be good for hooking up extra monitors. The Wraith Stealth box cooler is enough for mild OC's
Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-AB350M-DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($59.99 @ Amazon)  - Cheap, overclocking friendly, and 4 DIMMs so you can upgrade your RAM easily in future

These are both excessively overkill and unbalanced setups, he can get high FPS with the 1080p monitor I linked in eSports games or even lesser intensive titles like Siege on high just fine.

Why an APU with a 1060? You can game on the integrated graphics themselves, and save up for the 1060 later.
