laptop case cooling

I have a Surface 3 tablet that I also use for gaming and I have a very rugged case that is made of rubber. Is this going to hurt the cooling of the tablet and will it hurt or damage the computer in anyway in the future?

Any time you add material to the surface of an object, you're increasing its level of insulation. Yes, putting it in a case will affect how well heat dissipates. It shouldn't damage the tablet, but it could cause it to thermal throttle. However, if it's shutting off frequently or giving thermal warnings, then it would be best to take the case off while gaming.
