I got a 500gb Samsung 850 evo yesterday as my PC lacked an SSD. I tried migrating the files but no data was being transferred so I canceled it and tried rebooting my computer and trying again. Every time I tried starting up my PC it brought me to the windows repair screen and every time I selected one of the options to leave it, it just brought me back to that screen. I can now get into windows and everything on my PC, but only when the SSD is not plugged in. I think that there is probably something corrupted on the SSD but i dont know how to clear it since I cannot get into Windows 10 with it.

Can someone help.

What do you mean with "I tried migrating the files?"

Did you like copy all the files in disk C:\ on Windows and pasted them onto the SSD?

Spoiler

I hope not.

No, I used the Samsung Data Migration software

Well, stopping it was not a great idea. Maybe it was still indexing the files etc.

Just format the SSD and it should be fine. I think that the repair screen appears because your PC actually boots from the SSD instead of the HDD, but once your remove the SSD then it boots from the HDD. Go into the BIOS and check what's the boot order.

Thank you, I have changed the boot order and windows is running fine now. Im not sure why it changed to the SSD in the first place but its fixed now. Guess i'll retry migrating lol
