I am unable to access microsoft security essentials in any way. It refuses to allow me to even look at it's files. I am unable to give myself access to the files. The reason I am uninstalling it is because it is flagging everything I download as malware. Please help

I've never had any issue with MSE incorrectly flagging legitimate files/programs. what are you downloading that it's not liking?

Literally everything. Including Jpegs. It only flags files from the internet though.I can transfer files over the local network and it's fine

You probably have malware or virus which injects stuff on everything you download. I would scan your system with malwarebytes, and Avast afterwards just to be sure.

A first step would indeed be to download Malwarebytes and scan your PC. Although, even that first step might be a problem in your case.

So download it on another computer, transfer it to a USB thumb drive and from there you can install it on your PC.
