Posts with 9400 but not with 1050

Jsmith2211

OK so i want to make my mother's old AM2 system into a secondary PC to mine with my old 1050. I just upgraded my 1050 to an r9 290 so i have no use for the old card exept this any more. I know the card works because i was using it in my main PC a week ago and it has just sat on a shelf. The system has a sempron 3200+ and an old VIA chipset AM2 board. It has a PCIe slot which i put my 1050 into but the system does not post with the 1050 in. Help plz?

Bad mobo? What postcodes are you getting? Does it not post at all(no screen output) or just not boot(doesn't load operative system, presumably windows)?

Nothing with the 1050, but then i put the 9400 back in (The OG gpu) and all is fine, boots straight into bios (disconnected HDD)

Post codes from the motherboard(there's a small display that gives you numbers and letters)?

What PSU is in there? Maybe it's a wattage/voltage problem...?

As i said, 9400 works, 1050 does not. I cannot try with my 290 as it needs a 6 pin and an 8pin

The only thing I can think of that may prohibit a successfull POST is missing support for the 10th generation GTX on the old chipset.

Did you try getting a new BIOS version?

It is a very old mobo. The latest BIOS is always worth a try.

If the latest BIOS version doesn't support the card, you might just be out of luck.

Welp the card wasn't even imagined back then...
