hello friends. I'm looking for a $300ish usd CPU/Motherboard/Memory combo. It's for a friend but I'm not sure what his exact specs though iirc its something like an i7-950, some asus 1366 motherboard and a mix of 4*4gb ddr3 memory. He also has a gtx 960 that he is using to run his 4k tv that he is using as a monitor. He plays games like Rocket League, Overwatch and occasionally stuff like the new doom. He also is learning cad and programming. I have been looking at ryzen 5, a cheap a320 motherboard and 8gb ddr4 not sure if single or dual stick. any suggestions?

@TeddyOrion

Since the problem is literally the RAM prices, your friend kind of has the solution in-house.

A 4c/8t Intel CPU/Mobo combo, then use his current RAM + GPU. Looks like the 4770k is probably the value option.

For a separate build, if he's going to be doing CAD work, he's going to need some memory space. That's what really hurts in a build like this.

Looks to be between 90-95USD for a 2x 4 Gb kit of 3000 or 3200 memory. So could squeeze that in.
