TN vs VA

I am looking at this monitor. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824011162

I know VA has better colors. How noticeable is it?

Also there are worse response times, but these are color changing speeds not delays - so not as important. And I heard that anything less than 5ms is unnoticeable. Thoughts?

 

I wont be using amd freesync. Will that make it look worse? 

Curved was unintentional just bonus.

Should I invest in 27inches? I know the pixel density won't be as good, especially in my close viewing. Am on budget.

I went from TN to IPS to VA. TN was just bad all around. Dim, washed out, and bleed on the edges. IPS was bright, color accurate but had horrible backlight bleeding which caused whites to look a bit yellow in a corner. VA isn't as vivid as IPS but is bright and doesn't have bleeding. I have an ultrawide VA panel and when 16:9 content is shown black bars are on the sides but it looks like an OLED screen as the blacks are really black. I would pick VA over IPS with gaming monitors as it's cheaper and is less prone to bleeding and such. I will say there is a bit more ghosting then my other two monitors though

Just keeping this here as a In terms of picture quality, VA is less bad than TN and IPS, but its still LCD so you going to have to put up with that.

 

So long as you find a 'good' (and i use that term loosly) VA monitor, you may well not notice any 'ghosting' caused by slow pixel response. Somthing most TN dont have to worry about due to their nativly faster pixel response vs other LCD panel types.

 

Dont bother looking at indicated response times advertised by manufactuers, there is no agreed up standard for pixel respons testing , as such one monitor may have tested a specific grey to grey shade for the test, while another may have used white to black, or simply a different level of grey to grey. Its pritty much meaningless.

The only time you can take pixel reponse as a comparing factor is if a reviewer tests all their review sample using the same method and provides results.

 

Personaly if i had to choose the lesser of 3 evils, it would be VA over IPS or TN.
