make headphone mic work

my headphones have a mic but my laptop has a mic port and a audio port how do i use mic and sound on headphones

I'm assuming your headphones only use one cable for both audio and microphone.

 

You can buy a splitter for like $5-10 that will separate the mic and sound for you to use with you headphones:
