after updating the bios on a motherboard with a usb will it automatically revert to the old boot drive or do i manually have to change it back? Just wondering because I'm not sure and don't want to take out the USB if it is still booting from there.

When you update, it will go through the boot order as usual.

Usually it'll try to boot to your main drive first, and if that fails, it'll go through every other drive connected or added to the boot menu.

TL;DR: It won't automatically boot to your USB drive.
