Summer build 2018

Hello,

I soon have my finals and since my old pc from about 2013 is dying I wanted to invest no more than 2500 Euros into a new system. I would use the old Hard-drives from my old system.

What do you guys think about this: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/Md6sLJ Anything I should focus on? Anything that I am not seeing now that is really nice to have?

I would use the system to game but also for CAD (but nothing large).

Any kind of feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

You might consider a 2x16GB memory kit. This would leave two slots free for a no replacement upgrade should it ever be required.

I would suggest getting a better psu. Perhaps SeaSonic FOCUS Plus 550 Gold. Should help with overclocking.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I agree.

With a build like this, I think it would be wise to invest in buying components that will make upgrading in the future easier.

You may not think you will need anything that good but as you improve in whatever it is you do, You may reconsider.

Also, Your hard drives may be a bit old coming from 2013?

The 2700x is a total waste.  The 2700 is the exact same chip, the only difference is the factory clock.  Once overclocked the chips are exactly the same.  For CAD and gaming, however, I would just get the Ryzen 5 2600, the i5 8600k, or the i5 8400.  Also, 32GB of RAM is a waste for the usage you describe.  Unused RAM is wasted RAM, and while heavy CAD might be able to utilize more than 16GB, light CAD will not nor will any games.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

Ok thank you for the Advice. I didn't think of that.

The hard drives are from late 2017. I had to replace 2 old ones.

of the 3 chips you mentioned. Which one do you recommend?

Also: thank you for the RAM advice. i will choose a 16Gb Kit instead.

The 2600 if CAD or streaming are your main uses, 8600k for gaming, 8400 if the other two are too expensive.
