Mic Issues

Go to solution Solved by anothertom,

This basically comes down to using proper gain structure, which essentially means: don't do it all in one place. You need to make sure you're getting a good level of signal at each point in the chain, so the input to the computer (which will controlled through windows' recording devices, and the input into obs.

if you're going to have a large dynamic range within your speaking voice, then you might want to look into a software compressor. This will reduce the level of the louder audio and can be used to increase the level of quieter audio. Something like This would be suitable. It may look a little intimidating if you're not used to audio, but look around at some guides on compression/limiting.

You may want to do both of these things in one fell swoop, where something like voicemeeter banana would be suitable.

I have the Neewer NW-700 microphone. I've seen others use it and know it's a good mic. But when i use it sounds like its peeking out so easily on OBS. I have a 48V power supply and the microphone comes with an XLR to 3.5mm Even when i have it all connected to the power supply it still sounds like it peeks easily when I've seen others use the same power supply and not have issues. I'd like on my live streams to speak at a somewhat higher volume at times without blowing out a listeners ears. Anyone got any tips on any useful VST filters for OBS, programs that could help, or any knowledge on how to fix it.
