Normally go ssd for speed, SAS performance hdds are dead, no reason to use sas drives for mass storage here. If you want the fastest, pcie is much faster than sas.

I just rewatched an old Tech Quickie about SAS being better than SATA as it allowed for the speed for multiple users in both directions so thought it might be improved but makes sense PCIE would supersede this anyway

pcie is also full duplex, and that won't make any performance differnce anyways.

 

Id get get a sata ssd here, or spend a bit more for a 960 evo.
