Cpu power connectors

I just got an x99 motherboard and I have connectors at the top. My power supply is thernaltake smartpower 750w and only has two connectors. Will it be a problem to only use those two? It's an ASUS X99-E

Yes, that should be fine. The board doesn't require both connectors, so just connect the 8 pin connector and leave the 4 pin empty.

However, it'd be a decent idea to just plug the 4 pin in anyway. If you have two cables for it, why not?

I don't have the last 4 pin connector. My power supply only has the eight pin

It's a modular PSU, you can get the connector if you really want to, but the 8-pin alone should be ok

You can plug the 8 pin in, but half of it. Also, it should be able to split in half.

Why would I split it over the two slots instead of just using the eight pin in one slot?

Wait, you mean you have a 4+4 connector, not an 8 pin one? If it's 4+4, then just use the 8 pin slot.

I'm reading the motherboard manual right now. It says the eight pin required to boot and the extra 4 pin is recommended for higher overclocks
