Yes, that should be fine. The board doesn't require both connectors, so just connect the 8 pin connector and leave the 4 pin empty.

You can plug the 8 pin in, but half of it. Also, it should be able to split in half.

Wait, you mean you have a 4+4 connector, not an 8 pin one? If it's 4+4, then just use the 8 pin slot.
