I would also recommend that you get a better GPU then a gtx 980 if you plan on running 3 monitors

How is the system used?

Is there a budget number?

You guys are on crack this system is fine.  Save your money and buy something useful.  Maybe adding another 4-8 gigs of RAM would help

Using 3 monitors doesn't have that kind of effect.  The windows home screen or a browser page will not effect GPU performance.  The 980 is still a great card.
