Hi all, looking at upgrading my FX 8350 at some point in the next year or so, just wondered what people's thoughts were on upgrading to the 8350k from intel? I know this chip is controversial to say the least, but I think it could be a good upgrading for my purely gaming rig and keeping it overclockable, as coffee lake is obviously much better than ryzen in gaming. All comments appreciated ?

Thanks

Probably no more than about £300-£350, I'm looking at getting 1440p and maybe 144hz at some point too as I'm currently on 1050p ? seems intel tends to get the higher AVG FPS which would be better for the 144hz? But it needs to be overclockable as I can't live without that ?

Also I'm running a 980ti hybrid just for your information

300-350, with motherboard and ram or just the cpu?

With motherboard and ram, if I had a better budget I'd just got for the 8600k but that's a bit out of reach for me right now

To be honest, the i3-8350K isn't a bad processor but I would actually recommend a Ryzen 1600 (i know its 1 years old) because it has 6 cores and gaming performance is not bad... and this cpu could last you for a while since it's a 6 core and it can OC well to about 4Ghz.

edit: maybe the Ryzen 2600 once its out or the 2600x

My original option was the 1600 as it does perform well and I do love the amd CPU's but they just don't seem to hit the high FPS as well as intel does, and all ryzen hit a wall around 4 GHz where I'd like something where it's a bit of a lottery how well it'll do, like with my fx8350

Fps wise it's about the same, if ryzen is cheaper there, get ryzen. if intel is cheaper there, get intel
