How long is CPU Thermal Paste good for?

Just wondering how long it’s good for, and when I should change it.

It depends on which paste you use. They are all different

i change it once a year between heatspreader and cooler, when it gets summer and hot outside. But i think its not necessary to do it that often.

I think hes meaning on how long the tube has been on his shelf, not how long its been on the CPU.

While it's in the tube, the paste should never go bad, or at least longer than it would take to use it up. On the CPU, I'd say about a year or two, or when temps start to noticeably increase. I put a new CPU into my 2006 Dell XPS 410 last year, and the thermal paste had never been replaced in those 11 years, so it was super dry and crumbly. It did it's job though, and the Core 2 Duo never overheated (somehow).

I kept the same thermal paste on most of my CPUs for years. It was AS5 and never went bad or made my temps go high.
