SSD unraided it self?

Go to solution Solved by Electronics Wizardy,

probably a read error, id just recreate the array and restore backups.

Check near the bottom of the S.M.A.R.T. data for CRC errors.

I had an 850PRO kicked out of a 4-disc RAID5 array due to CRC erros which were caused by a SATA cable going bad.  The drive was perfectly fine, but even after replacing the cable I couldn't get it back into the array either.  Once a drive times out or the controller notices it's getting bad data, that drive gets kicked out of the array and it's not getting back in.  I assume the controller remembers the serial number.  Either replace the drive or delete the array and then create a new array using the same 2 drives.

Keep in mind that if it happens once and you don't find the cause, it will probably happen again.  Prepare for that.  Backups, backups, backups.
