Double check my build.

I'm buying an oculus and three lighthouses - ya'know, because I played my buddy's oculus once. So I'm putting together a new rig for gaming and a little development on the oculus. Could you check my build and maybe suggest fixes or sensible upgrades?

I'm building a custom case. Budget is around $650 without the GPU, WD's, and case. It's not a hard budget so if you have a suggestion that's over no worries. This was all priced via amazon but here's a mostly accurate pcpartspicker list.

• Ryzen 5 1600 - $174.98

Borrowing a R9 390 until prices go down

• Either a ASUS PRIME B350-Plus, GA AB350 Gaming 3, or an MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic - $94.99 - $99.99

• Ballistix Sport LT (4GBx2) DDR4 2400 - BLS2K4G4D240FSC - $85.99

• Samsung evo 860 MZ-76E250B/AM - $84.99

• Reusing some WD blue 500GB drives

• EXPLOMOS PCIE to USB 3.0 & C Card - $21.99

• EVGA 650 GQ, 80+ GOLD 650W, Semi Modular 210-GQ-0650-V1 - $69.99

• RAYSUN 2 Port USB 3.0 to 20 pin mobo connector - $9.99

• Pwr and Reset momentary button

I'd like some advice on the mobo. Linus and a few others seemed to like the ASUS but the Gigabyte has dual BIOS and the Tomahawk apparently has good VRMs. Is one better quality, significantly more friendly, etc.?

I've never overclocked before but I'd like to do so.

You should opt for faster ram for gaming, i would also take the newer chip/boards, its a little more than your build, but has the options covered, I'm pretty sure the board is USB type c/3.1 as well so need for the card

With ram prices unacceptable right now I'd like to throw in 2x4GB and another two later. Any chance you could recommend some 4s that are ryzen festivity l friendly?

Sorry if I’m missin something here, but I thought your budget was $650? The build I suggested is like $652.

if that’s the way you want to go (personally I wouldn’t, I’m not sure how well Ryzen 2 plays with 4 dimms, Ryzen one couldn’t or rarely ran speeds higher than 2933mhz with 4) just grab 2x4gb sticks from Corsair/gskill (my preferred brands)

No man, you nailed it thank you. I was just thinking I'd set the money side for RAM later but if it'll perform better with the 8s I'll take your advice. Thanks again.
