So I was gaming last night and my nvidia drivers crashed and froze my PC. After I reset my computer my video card would keep losing signal. The pc stays on and active in programs. This even happens in BIOS.

I've tried DDU in safemode, ive tried resetting cmos, ive tried updating all drivers and bios drivers..... I have no idea what the problem is.... even when I use onboard graphics and I have the video card in the PCIe slot nvidia will still be able to identify the card and install drivers.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, actually considering a reward just so i can rest my brain because it is bothering the shit out of me.

Is this a new GPU you've bought? You could have just got unlucky and got one with shit binning and it's overclocking itself to a level that isn't stable.

I've had it for almost a year now and I oc'd it myself, but never had any issues. Im thinking it could be trying to go to those speeds and then crashing, but would it do that in BIOS? How would I work around this problem without voiding the warranty.

Have you seen if you have the same problem with another graphics card? My first response to GPU problems is to grab an old card to tell if it's the card or another component. I know you said you tried updating drivers, but have you tried going into the device manager, uninstalling the drivers, then reinstalling?

Specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen R7 3700X @4.4Ghz, GPU: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT, RAM: 32 GB (2x 8GB Trident Z Royal + 2x 8GB TForce Vulkan Z) @3000Mhz, Motherboard: ASRock B550m Steel Legend, Storage: 1x WD Black 1Tb NVMe (boot) + 1x Samsung 860 QVO 1Tb SSD (storage), Case: Thermaltake Core V21, Cooler: Noctua NH-D15

Im gona try a friends GPU in the morning.

as far as drivers go, I have totally uninstalled them with DDU and reinstalled them.

If i try doing the device manager way with my card plugged in the mobo it just no signals before I can barely right click the card lol

Best thing to do would be to try another GPU if you have one available, and to try the "problem" GPU in another system if possible. I'm assuming if you've gone through all this safe mode crap you've of course tried simply running it without your overclock enabled? If not, you might find you've just been running an overclock that is actually unstable, but you never realised it because the specific demand you placed on the system wasn't enough to cause instability up until now. Seems unlikely over the course of a year though.

If it's still unstable without an overclock it could be toasted, or your PSU could be toasted.

Ya im going to try my gpu in a friends system tomorrow along with a different gpu.

as for the overclock, it seems to show stock when i get into windows for 20 seconds to launch MSI afterburner.

small update, after a fresh windows 10 install my problem has changed a tiny bit...

when i force onboard GFX hooked up to my display  and have my video card plugged in to the pcie slot  it will stay on for about 5 min before totally locking my system. MSI afterburner showed base clocks before locking.
